Ruadh Mhor 14yr Refill Hogshead, Peated - Hideout X Thompson Bros, Single Cask

The Ruadh Mhor distillery is the peated arm of Glenturret, Scotland’s oldest working distillery. Production has always been limited, and with Glenturret no longer producing peated spirit, mature Ruadh Mhor is becoming increasingly scarce. Independent bottlings are few and far between, making releases like this even more special.


Bottled by the legendary Thompson Bros, this Hideout Exclusive release is one of just 67 bottles drawn from a single refill hogshead. The whisky was reracked into a refill Oloroso octave in October 2024, adding an extra layer of richness and complexity while allowing the distillate’s character to remain front and centre.


The result is a beautifully balanced peated dram, where gentle smoke meets layers of orchard fruit and spice rather than overwhelming the palate.
Tasting Notes


Nose: Big greasy BBQ notes, coal-fired meats, smoked apple sauce and gentle oak spice.
Palate: Rich, oily mouthfeel with peppered honey, warming taco spices, soft campfire smoke and sweet orchard fruits.
Finish: Long, warming and gently smoky, with lingering pepper, charred oak and a touch of honey sweetness.
